HISD board president, woman arrested address chaotic meeting
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - A Houston ISD board meeting got downright ugly and physical last night as members decided not to vote on a controversial measure to give up control over 10 low-performing schools.
During the meeting, one woman was dragged away by police and later released. Two other women were arrested as several others shouted and there was even a scuffle.
People were speaking out against HISD handing over 10 poorly performing schools to the charter school Energize for STEM Academy.
The question is what went wrong. A woman who is taking some responsibility for that with a public apology she issued on Wednesday is HISD school board president Rhonda Skillern-Jones and she speaks with Isiah Carey on the Isiah Factor Uncensored.
Isiah also speaks with Kandice Webber, who was one of two people arrested at the board meeting. Charges were later dropped against both people after consulting with the Harris County District Attorney's Office. Webber was released once the charges were dropped. But was it necessary? And what's next for those who found themselves facing criminal trespassing charges? Kandice Webber and Ashton P. Woods are on the Isiah Factor to share their side of the story.
