Tomball: Wrong-way driver crashes into 6 vehicles during chase on FM-2920
TOMBALL, Texas - Harris County authorities closed off FM-2920 in the Tomball area Thursday night after a wrong-way driver reportedly crashed into multiple vehicles.

What we know:
According to Captain Wilson with the Harris County Sheriff's Office District 6, around 7:50 p.m. they received multiple calls about a Dodge Ram 1500 driving erratically and recklessly going eastbound on FM-2920 and Mueschke Road, just north of Highway 99.
The driver was allegedly driving in the wrong lane, running vehicles off the road, and crossing multiple lanes.
A deputy spotted the vehicle at a Valero gas station on FM-2920 at the intersection of Kobs Road. The deputy turned on their lights and sirens to stop the vehicle, but the driver drove around the gas station refusing to stop, officials said.
The Dodge Ram reportedly pulled back out on to FM-2920 going westbound and led authorities on a short pursuit that lasted less than two minutes.
Capt. Wilson states the vehicle got to the intersection of Cypress Rose Hill and accelerated at a high rate of speed. The driver went into a northbound ditch, losing control of the vehicle. They crossed into and back out of the intersection, hitting six other cars that were either stopped or moving eastbound toward 2920.
The suspect, 53, was detained and taken to a hospital. Authorities believe he was under the influence. He could face evading and DWI charges.
Five other people were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, Capt. Wilson said.
No deputies were injured.
What we don't know:
There is no estimate regarding when FM-2920 will reopen.
No one involved has been identified at this time.
Sheriff Gonzalez did not share the suspect's current condition.
