Firefighters injured, occupants safe after 2-alarm blaze damages Prince George's County apartment

LANDOVER HILLS, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - An early morning two-alarm blaze that swept through an apartment complex in Prince George's County left three firefighters injured and sent worry through the community after a family, believed to have been living on the top floor of the building, was temporarily left unaccounted for.

The fire was reported around 3:30 a.m. on Warner Avenue in Landover Hills. Mark Brady, spokesman for Prince George's County Fire and EMS, says part of exterior walls of the three-story building collapsed during the fire. He said three firefighters suffered burns battling and were transported with injuries. Brady said one residents was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

Brady said all occupants are accounted for. Earlier this morning, officials expressed concern after a family thought to have been living in an apartment unit inside the building was unaccounted for. FOX 5’s Melanie Alnwick has since confirmed that fire officials now know where that family is.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
