Downed power line caused by storm believed to have started house fire

A downed power line caused by storms passing through the area is believed to have started a house fire in northwest Harris County, the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office says.

Firefighters with the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene of the fire on Crooks Way Court around 4 a.m. Officials say a large tree fell onto power lines which fell onto the back of the house and started the fire.

The family was in the home but was able to make it out of the house unharmed.

CenterPoint crews are on the scene to address the downed power line.
