Woman shot, killed by estranged husband in Cypress; suspect in custody
CYPRESS, Texas - A woman has died after she was shot and killed by her estranged husband in Cypress on Friday night.

What we know:
At about 9 p.m. Friday, a 911 call was made about a shooting on Cypress Falls Drive, near Grant and Spring Cypress Roads. The caller stated that a 44-year-old woman was shot by her estranged husband.
Harris County authorities say the suspect had forced his way into the home, found his estranged wife, and shot her.
The man fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, but Texas DPS and Harris County Precinct 4 authorities found him nearby. Officials say the suspect was still armed and shot at authorities.
A SWAT team was called to the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody.
The couple's 6-and 18-year-old children were in the home when the shooting happened. They weren't physically harmed.

‘Tragedy they’ll never forget'
What they're saying:
While the couple's children weren't physically harmed, Harris County Major Cedrick Collier is asking others to keep the children in their prayers since they were present when the shooting happened.
"Those kids, they witnessed a tragedy they'll never forget. To witness not only losing their mother, [but] their father as well. It's pretty heart-wrenching that they have to go through that at that age," said Maj. Collier. "This was a temporary problem that they gave a permanent solution to that didn't have to happen.
