Buc-ee's sues North Texas gas station chain claiming logo is too similar to beaver

Buc-ee's is suing a smaller North Texas gas station chain, claiming it is infringing on the copyright for the Buc-ee's beaver logo.

Buc-ee's sues Super Fuels over logo

A lawsuit, filed by Bucee's in US District Court, claims Super Fuels' logo is too similar to the Buc-ee's Beaver.

The Super Fuels' logo is a dog in a cape.

In the lawsuit, Buc-ees says the Super Fuels logo prominently features an "anthropomorphic and cartoon representation of a smiling animal that closely resembles a beaver, which is similarly positioned in a right-facing angle and is depicted in front of a circular background."

The suit also notes the similar expression and coloring.

Buc-ee's claims the logos could confuse customers and that confusion has led to a loss in sales for Buc-ee's.

The lawsuit calls for a permanent injunction to stop Super Fuels from using the dog logo, for Super Fuels to pay Buc-ee's for any "ill-gotten gains" and the destruction of all signs, packages and other materials with the logo.

Super Fuels owns two locations in Dallas and one in Irving.
