Baytown Fire Department lifts shelter-in-place, fire under investigation

The shelter-in-place orders for the Evergreen Fairways and Trinity Oaks subdivisions in Baytown have been lifted.

What we know:

The Baytown Fire Department was dispatched to a fire near the 2400 block of Causeway Road, off of Evergreen Road, around 7:40 a.m.

A tank fire was found at Trek Resources, Inc. 

There are no fire hydrants in the area, so mutual aid was provided by water tankers from Cove, Beach City, and Crosby Volunteer fire departments.

Foam trucks were requested from Harris County Hazmat and ExxonMobil to help with suppression efforts.

The Baytown Fire Department’s Hazmat team continuously monitored the air and issued the shelter-in-place as a precaution.

The shelter-in-place was lifted after air quality readings showed no hazardous levels.

Baytown Fire officials say there were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
