Meet 'Azizi:' April the Giraffe's baby now has a name
HARPURSVILLE, NY (FOX 13) - The brand new baby of April the Giraffe finally has a name!
Animal Adventure Park in New York announced on its Facebook page Monday that the bouncing baby boy's name is "Azizi," pronounced "Ah-ZEE-ZEE."
Fans voted for the name in an online contest held by the park, and the park says fans ultimately picked "Keeper's Choice," allowing the giraffe care team to choose.
"Azizi" has several origins and meanings including "the mighty one," precious, and powerful, which the park says describes the calf well.
Azizi was born Saturday, March 16 and he now weighs 170 pounds and already stands 6 feet tall.
April the Giraffe first went viral while the world anticipated the birth of her giraffe, Tajiri, in 2015.
