Pursuit in Harris County ends with law enforcement vehicle crashing, landing in ditch

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - An attempt to apprehend a wanted fugitive ended with two vehicles crashing into a water-filled ditch along I-10 on Tuesday afternoon.

What we know:
Officials confirmed a Harris County Constable Precinct 3 vehicle was involved in the incident.
According to Precinct 3 Constables, Baytown police had initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle.
We're told a person in the vehicle was wanted for aggravated assault and a family violence charge.
A pursuit began, and officials said during the pursuit, the suspect vehicle hit another vehicle, and lost control on I-10 Eastbound before Monmouth Drive.
The suspect's vehicle then struck the deputy's vehicle. The deputy's vehicle then left the roadway and fell into a ditch.
Officials said the deputy's vehicle ended up on top of the suspect's vehicle.
One person has been detained.
No injuries were reported.
