Mother charged with endangering a child after 1-year-old son fatally struck by car
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - A Houston mother has been charged with endangering a child after her one-year-old son was fatally struck by a car in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Wednesday.
Investigators say the child was left unattended by his mother, 18-year-old Gissel Vazquez. According to police, the baby boy was walking through the parking lot of the apartment complex near Tierwester Street and Tampa Street when he was struck by a white Chevrolet Impala.
Bystanders came out and moved the child out of the street. Despite efforts, the child remained unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the driver initially left the scene, but returned and was questioned by investigators.
