Fewer educational opportunities for female inmates

A report from the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition revealed that women inmates are offered far fewer technical education options than males and four-year bachelors degree programs for female inmates are virtually disappearing.

According to the Texas Observer, Texas A&M Central will phase out the last remaining bachelor's degree program offered at women's prisons.

Dr. Kristen Gehring, associate professor of criminal justice at University of Houston-Downtown, discusses the study with Isiah Carey.
