ALVIN, Texas - The parent of a young girl has been located after she was found walking alone in Alvin on Thursday morning, police say.

The backstory:
According to police, the girl, believed to be 5 to 7 years old, was found walking alone near the 1300 block of W. Adoue Street.
Police put out a description of the girl and asked for the public's help locating her parents.
About an hour and a half later, police said they had located her parent.
What we don't know:
It’s unclear how long the girl was wandering alone or how she got out of her home. The child's identity was not released.
