Texas legislature at odds over curriculum requirements
The Senate has components of SB 3, written into the bill by Democrats, that would require teachers in Texas to teach moments in American history about minorities and women – things like Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech, the civil rights movement, and women’s suffrage. But republicans stripped that from the version that passed. Our panel debates the move, as a historian says this doesn’t mean the lessons won’t be taught in the classroom.
