Efforts underway to commute, delay mother's scheduled execution
Republican and Democratic state lawmakers joined forces Thursday to delay or cancel the execution of a Texas mother. Melissa Lucio is set to be executed next month for her 2-year-old daughter?s death 15 years ago. Many in the case believe she was coerced into a false confession by Harlingen-area law enforcement. Governor Greg Abbott is aware of Lucio?s case and at least one lawmaker says he believes he will do the right thing.
