Tropical Storm Karl has formed in the southern Gulf of Mexico. Direct impacts from Karl are not expected but some moisture from Karl may stream into SE Texas over the next few days. A cold front will also approach from the north bringing a chance for spotty showers and storms Wednesday through early Thursday. That front will usher in slightly cooler temperatures late week. Then a stronger front moves in early next week with a better shot for rain and storms. That front will have it feeling a lot more like fall by next Tuesday.

Disturbance in the southern Gulf of Mexico in Bay of Campeche has formed into Tropical Storm Karl. It has 40 mph winds and is moving NW. It is expected to turn west then southwest over the next few days and make landfall in eastern Mexico bringing a flood threat. Another disturbance in the eastern Pacific is has a 20% chance to develop into a tropical cyclone over the next 5 days.

Julia is no longer a hurricane, tropical storm or depression. Remnants of Julia are located over S. Mexico and Guatemala producing heavy rain and 30 mph winds. It is expected to dissipate tonight but a chunk of it could break off, head to the eastern Pacific and possibly develop into a new system. Chances for that are low. There's also another disturbance over the Yucatan Peninsula with a low chance to track into the southern Gulf of Mexico and develop into a tropical cyclone. There's a 20% chance of this happening over the next 2-5 days.

Starting off the week with a continuation of our near perfect streak of weather. Onshore flow will slowly return, with building humidity by the middle of the week. As we transition towards those more humid conditions, we may squeeze out a sprinkle or brief shower Tuesday. Chances have decreased some for midweek rain, but some showers still look to be about as a weak front slides through overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning. That will lead to a dry start to the weekend, with some more showers possible on Sunday. Models continue to hint at a more potent front arriving on the 16th/17th so we'll keep our eyes on that and fine tune details as things draws closer.
