Springer on disabled list for Astros, Keuchel rejoins

Good news? The Houston Astros have activated both pitchers Dallas Keuchel, who was dealing with neck discomfort, and Will Harris, who suffered right shoulder inflammation, from the 10-day disabled list.

Bad news? Outfielder George Springer has been placed on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to July 25) with left quad discomfort.

The Astros also optioned pitcher Michael Feliz to Double A Corpus Christi.

Keuchel has has won in 4 consecutive starts with a 9-0 record on the season and is the only undefeated starter in Major League Baseball (min. 10 starts) and his 9-game win streak is the longest in the AL this season. He has an active 11-game winning streak that dates back to his final 2 starts of 2016, which is 1 win shy of the franchise record.

The 2015 AL Cy Young Award winner has not pitched since June 2 due to a neck injury that sent him to the disabled list for the second time this year. He was 9-0 with a 1.67 ERA in 11 starts before going on the disabled list, leaving him at 10-1 this season.

"I've been looking forward to this for a while," Kuechel said before Wednesday's game against Philadelphia. "I feel great. It's go time."

Astros manager A.J. Hinch said he will closely monitor Keuchel in his first two starts.

"We'll be careful with him," Hinch said. "We're confident. We don't expect any problems."

Keuchel allowed one run over eight innings in minor league injury rehabilitation starts.

"I don't have any questions about myself," Keuchel said.
