Houston shooting: Man who shot brother on Dreyfus Street claims self-defense, police say

A man told authorities that he shot his brother in self-defense after he came at him with a knife, according to Houston police.

Gregory Lynn Richardson, 65, was charged with aggravated assault for shooting his 68-year-old brother. The shooting was reported around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 3500 block of Dreyfus Street.

According to police, the brother came home and noticed leather coats were missing, and confronted his brother, Richardon, while waving a knife around.

Richardson alleges during the argument, he pulled out a gun and shot his brother in self-defense one time when he cut him with the knife.

The brother with the gunshot wound was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Houston police report Richardson was detained on scene with a laceration on his hand.
