Houston Police Department Chief Howard said the shooting occurred in the 13900 block of Main Street around 7 p.m.
SUGGESTED: Houston woman arrested for allegedly leaving dead baby at gas station
Howard said during a news conference on Wednesday evening that when officers initially arrived, there was no one left on scene.
However, detectives were able to determine three men, all said to be in their 30s, had a physical fight. Officials said two of the men involved were brothers, along with another man.
As the fight was ongoing, that's when a woman from a nearby truck pulled out a weapon and shot and killed one of the men.
Following the shooting, Howard said the surviving men scattered and one of the men jumped into the woman's vehicle as they fled the scene.
The surviving brother, and the brother who was shot, were taken to a nearby hospital. The brother that was shot was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The two people who fled the scene in the truck arrived at a nearby emergency room for treatment and were taken into custody by police.
All survivors are being questioned by investigators to determine what caused the deadly shooting to occur.
Officials did say that no one was staying at the motel and they arrived separately. Multiple guns were also found on the scene, officials said.
Howard said all the evidence collected will be turned over the District Attorney to determine possible charges.
