High levels of benzene detected near ITC
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Fox 26 has learned that the Environmental Protection Agency has detected a high level of benzene near ITC in Deer Park.
The EPA tells ITC officials that yesterday's reading was two parts per million, which is considered high. A subsequent reading taken afterwards went back to a safe level.
The World Health Organization classifies high levels of benzene as a carcinogen and links it to leukemia if airborne with high concentration levels.
This is a developing story.
