Man shot, killed by Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies
An investigation is underway following a deadly deputy-involved shooting in East Harris County on Friday evening.
CHANNELVIEW, Texas - A suspect has reportedly been pronounced deceased following a shooting involving Harris County deputies in the Channelview area.

What we know:
The shooting was reported at a complex on Sheldon Road near the East Freeway.
According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, 911 calls came in at about 6:20 p.m. about a suspect breaking windows in cars and apartment units.
Deputies arrived minutes later and reportedly found a male matching the suspect description and carrying "some type of sharp object," according to the sheriff.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez provides the latest information following a deputy-involved shooting on Sheldon Road.
The deputies reportedly gave verbal commands, but the suspect didn't comply and ran away instead. The deputies chased after him until he stopped.
Allegedly, the deputies gave more commands, but the suspect appeared to have been approaching the deputies, leading the two to open fire.
The deputies performed live-saving measures until first responders brought the suspect to a hospital, but he was reportedly pronounced deceased.

The suspect has not been identified at this time.
There is no information on why the suspect was reportedly breaking windows.
The deputies have also not been identified. Sheriff Gonzalez says they've been on duty for a range between six months and one year.

Per protocol, both deputies who opened fire will be placed on administrative leave.
Multiple investigations will be conducted. The sheriff's office's internal division and the Harris County District Attorney's Office will investigate the deputies' procedures during this incident, and homicide detectives are launching a criminal investigation.
