Baking cookies for the family or as gifts for friends and co-workers can be as simple as four ingredients this holiday season!

Enter: the amazing 4 Ingredient Shortbread Cookie.

The rich and delicate cookie is versatile, and can be enjoyed in several ways from drizzling chocolate on top of them to rolling them out and cutting them into shapes and adding sprinkles, or even just plain!

Here's the recipe:

INGREDIENTS:
-1/2 cup cornstarch
-1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
-1 cup all-purpose flour
-3/4 cup butter, softened (stick and a half) - do not use margarine or substitute (sorry!)
-Semi-sweet chocolate for melting (optional)
-Sprinkles (optional)

DIRECTIONS:
Mix cornstarch, confectioner's sugar, and flour in a bowl. Add butter. Using a spoon or by hand, blend the ingredients together until a smooth dough forms. Make into one large ball. If it's too soft, refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Shape into 1 inch balls and place on parchment paper on a baking pan, 1 1/2 inches apart. Using a floured fork, lightly press into the cookie. You can also roll the dough and cut it into shapes using cookie cutters and decorate with sprinkles instead.

Bake at 325 for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are (very) lightly browned.

If you cut into shapes, cool on wire rack.

To drizzle chocolate, melt the chocolate bars in a bowl in the microwave in 30 second increments. Stir until melted. Using a spoon, drizzle the chocolate onto the cookies (the parchment will catch the chocolate spillover.)

Set aside so chocolate can harden. If you're in a rush, place the entire pan in the freezer for 20 minutes for chocolate to harden.

Enjoy!
