Houston weather: Weekend rain chances clearing out
Models show lower rain chances Sunday and Monday. With that comes plenty of sunshine helping temperatures rise to the upper 90s on Sunday.
HOUSTON - We're expecting lower rain chances for Sunday and Monday, then they return for the middle of the new week.

Models show lower rain chances on Sunday and Monday. With that comes plenty of sunshine, helping temperatures rise to the upper 90s on Sunday. Looking fairly typical for the last week of August in Houston.
More heavy downpours
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will return on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Severe weather and widespread flooding is not expected, but some cells could drop a quick 1"+ so, in poor drainage areas, we could see isolated street flooding.

Tropical Weather Update: Tropical Storm Fernand forms in the Atlantic
Tropical Storm Fernand has formed in the Atlantic. Fernand should follow a path similar to Hurricane Erin, avoiding a direct landfall to the US coast. Conditions are not as favorable as they were for Erin, so Fernand is expected to be an overall smaller system.
The tropical wave known as Invest 90L has organized and strengthened into Tropical Storm Fernand.
It should follow a similar path to Erin - avoiding any U.S. landfall. It's likely to be a much smaller system.
Behind that, another wave (Invest 99L) has a low chance for further development over the next week, as it moves toward the Caribbean.
Models are not showing it doing much just yet, but it's one to watch longer term.
