Houston weather: Highs near 70 despite cold front

After seven straight days with highs in the 80s, the pattern has finally broken as the first of a few cold front has arrived. Although no extreme cold is expected, the combination of clouds, rain and shifting winds should bring temperatures closer to normal for February. Highs will range from near 70 Monday to near 80 Wednesday and back the 50s by Thursday.

Timeline:

Two rounds of rain are likely – one on Tuesday afternoon and another on Wednesday morning.

Both will bring a few heavy downpours and a strong storm will be possible, especially farther north and northeast of Houston.

Total rainfall should range from 1-2", but with isolated higher amounts.

Severe weather chance

The highest chance for severe weather will set up over Louisiana and far East Texas, but we will closely watch for any changes.
