Cyclospora research projects shuttered as US cases climb

The United States Department of Agriculture is shuttering two of their research projects used to study cyclospora, the foodborne parasite that has infected thousands of Americans in 20 states over the summer.

The largest foodborne outbreak of its kind in history has expanded, with three additional states now reporting cases of cyclosporiasis linked to recalled iceberg lettuce.

Galveston County health officials are investigating a recent increase in Cyclosporiasis in the area after more than a dozen cases confirmed.

Taylor Farms pulls Mexico iceberg lettuce as cyclospora outbreak investigation expands

Taylor Farms said it is voluntarily removing all iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico after the FDA linked a cyclosporiasis outbreak to shredded iceberg lettuce.
