What we know:

According to the truck’s owner, surveillance video shows the moment the semi was driven away in the middle of the night from a reserved parking space at a Texaco station along Fondren Road.

Semi Taken from Truck Stop

The owner, Ahmad Wisal, said he had been paying for a reserved parking space at the location and had only recently purchased the truck.

"Since I bought my truck, I brought it here, and I paid for this truck spot for one month," Wisal explained. "I got a reserved parking spot, so I parked on March 11, and March 22, it was stolen."

Wisal said he locked the truck, but when he returned on March 24, he noticed his truck was missing. After reviewing surveillance footage, he discovered video that appears to show someone driving the semi away overnight.

The stolen semi-truck, which Wisal said he bought used for $90,000 earlier this month, was more than just a vehicle, it was his livelihood.

"The truck was my life," he said. "It’s really hard, and I’m feeling so overwhelmed because that truck was my everything. I was supporting my whole family back in my country and trying to run my business."

Investigation Underway

The theft has been reported to Houston police, who confirmed they are actively investigating the case.

Wisal said the circumstances surrounding the theft are confusing.

"I don’t know how they did it," he said. "We don’t have any evidence on the scene. The window was not broken. They just started it and drove away."

Police Offer Advice to Truck Owners

As the investigation continues, police are urging truck owners to take extra precautions, including installing tracking devices that can help locate stolen vehicles more quickly.

Anyone with information about the stolen semi-truck is asked to contact the Houston Police Department.
