Jersey Village road rage victim speaking out

Late last month, Jersey Village police say that a driver in a black sedan fired multiple shots into another vehicle. Miraculously, the victim survived, and he spoke exclusively with FOX 26.

Jersey Village police say a shooter is at large after shooting multiple rounds during a road rage incident.

What we know:

Police in Jersey Village are calling on the public for any information on a suspected road rage shooting that happened on Highway 290 on Tuesday morning.

The victim, Daniel, says he's lucky to be alive.

The shooting was reported in the eastbound lanes of Highway 290 near Jones Road. Investigators believed it happened between 7:50 and 7:58 a.m.

The victim's story:

Daniel says he had just entered the highway and noticed a black sedan with dark tinted windows "weaving through traffic and using the shoulder to pass other vehicles."

He says the car almost hit his and he "threw his hands up".

Next thing he knew, he said the sedan driver rolled down the passenger window and shot.

"I felt the bullets fly past my [head], you can feel the vibration in the air, it was really scary," he said.

Daniel was shot in the leg. He made it to the hospital and had to wait nine days for surgeons to remove the bullet.

"He's a hard worker. He's a man of God, seeing this happen to him when all he was trying to do was go to work, it's sad to think about," said Daniel's sister, Vanessa. "The fact that this person is still out there is scary."

They both say they hope this dangerous individual is caught.

"They always say leave room for the wrath of God, I can't be angry. I'll let God handle that for me," said Daniel.

Detectives believe this shooting was an "isolated road rage incident."
