Houston ISD public meeting ends in shouting match: 'TEA go away'
Houston ISD held its first public board meeting on Thursday, but before it started protesters made their voices heard outside headquarters. The shouting even made its way inside the actual meeting. FOX 26's Randy Wallace reports how the shouting match rolled into a meeting.
HOUSTON - The only way to believe Thursday night's Houston Independent School District board meeting was to see it for yourself.
It was standing room only when the TEA-appointed Board of Managers voted to elect board officers for the 2023-2024 board meeting.

Even though speaker after speaker denounced interim Superintendent F. Mike Miles, the Board of Managers unanimously voted him in.

While the board unanimously voted each other in, they seemed oblivious to the crowd chanting ‘TEA go away’ and ‘no justice, no peace.’
The board approved Mile's salary which will pay him $1,473 for every day he works. He was also given $25,000 to relocate to Houston.

There will be two more public hearings on the next two Thursdays and more yelling and chanting is expected.
While the meeting was raucous and loud no arrests were made.
