COVID-19 patient arrives at LAX in negative pressure isolation chamber

LOS ANGELES - A 65-year-old resident from Orange County is back in Southern California after being diagnosed with COVID-19 while on the island of Aruba. 

A private air ambulance landed at Los Angeles International Airport Thursday just before 11 a.m.

It is reported the patient was being carried in a special negative pressure isolation chamber.

Staff onboard the plane were also wearing biohazard protective gear.  

A ground ambulance and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol met the jet— near a private terminal.

It took several minutes before the crew was able to offload the patient and place him on the ambulance’s gurney. The ambulance took the man to St. Joseph’s hospital in Orange.  You can watch the patient arriving from LAX here:

The hospital would neither confirm or deny the patient was here.

A spokesperson sent a statement that reads in part: “As this outbreak escalates, be assured we have plans in place to protect the safety of all our patients, visitors, and, of course, our caregivers.”

The condition and gender of the patient are currently not known.
