WATCH: Chambers County stolen vehicle pursuit caught on camera

Watch as authorities use spike strips to capture a suspect who led them on a chase in Chambers County on January 16.

A suspect from Houston was taken into custody after leading Chambers County authorities on a stolen car pursuit two weeks ago.

What we know:

Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said deputies responded to a call regarding the theft of a vehicle in the 8800 block of North State Highway 146 in Baytown on Thursday, January 16 just after 1:15 p.m.

Officials said they quickly located the stolen vehicle at the 803-mile marker of I-10 eastbound and initiated a pursuit, assisted by Texas DPS troopers.

Deputies pursued the stolen vehicle and successfully deployed spikes on the second attempt at the 814-mile marker of I-10 eastbound. 

The driver, later identified as Jorge Emiliano Mata Olmos, of Houston, was taken into custody for theft of property valued at $2,500 to $30,000, as well as evading arrest or detention with a vehicle.
