Caught on Camera: Woman seriously injured after being hit by tow truck driver

HOUSTON - A 24-year-old woman was seriously injured after being hit by a tow truck driver in northwest Houston.

What we know:

The incident happened around 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Jones Road and Woodedge Drive.

 The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the woman was attempting to cross through a turn median, when a 44-year-old wrecker truck driver struck her as she crossed.

 The driver did stop, and did not leave the scene. Local EMS and HCSO traffic investigators were called and the woman was taken to the hospital in serious condition. 

"All I could see is this lady just tumbling."

What they're saying:

Surveillance video captured the moment the woman was hit by the tow truck driver. Witnesses at the scene said everyone rushed to help when the incident unfolded. 

"I heard it, you know, I immediately turned around and all I could see is this lady just tumbling," said Victor Jacobs, who was working nearby. "I just told her to keep fighting. Keep fighting. We are praying for you. We need you." 

"She was lying on the ground. One of her legs was behind her back, broken and literally from the front you could see her skull," said Joshua Bernard, another witness. 

Nearby witnesses said bystanders who saw the woman lying on the ground stopped to say a prayer for her. 

"People were already around her. She wasn’t breathing. They started talking to her, she came back breathing," said Bernard. 

What we don't know:

The identities of the victim and the truck driver have not been disclosed.
