Baby bath seats sold on Amazon under recall for risk of serious injury, drowning

The ONTHEWEI baby bath seat, model MY002, sold on Amazon in April of 2026, is under a recall because the product is unstable and can tip over while in use, posing a risk of serious injury or death by drowning, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commiss

A brand of baby bath seats sold in April on Amazon.com is under a recall because they are unstable and can tip over while in use, posing a risk of serious injury or even drowning, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says.

What You Need to Know:

ONTHEWEI baby bath seats were sold on the website for between $40 and $50 in April of this year.

But the agency said that because of their instability and the injury risk, the seats violate the mandatory standard for infant bath seats.

Manufactured in China, the recalled seats came in the colors gray, pink, blue and mist green, the commission's website states. They have detachable restraint arms and suction cups on the other side. They carry the model number "MY002" and a "2026/1/10" date of manufacture on a label on the back of the seat.

No injuries have been reported so far, the commission says. The recall notice states approximately 2,140 of the seats were sold.

But it advises anyone who purchased one of the baby bath seats to stop using it immediately and contact ONTHEWEI for a full refund.

What they're saying:

"Customers will be asked to destroy the bath seat by writing in permanent marker, "RECALLED" on the front of the seat, disassembling it by removing the back rest and arm restraints, and cutting the three suction cups on the seat's underside," the recall notice states. Customers will also be asked to send a photo of the destroyed bath seat showing the marked product to onthewei@outlook.com.

They can then dispose of the product.
