Chicanukkah Festival Unites Latino and Jewish Communities

More than 500 guests came together ahead of Chanukah for Chicanukkah 2025, a vibrant Latino-Jewish cultural celebration in Houston. The festive evening united communities to celebrate shared values, faith, and heritage through food, music, and meaningful traditions from both cultures. The event was founded by Jacob Monty of the Center for Latino-Jewish Relations. We spoke with Monty and Renee Wizig-Barrios, President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, about the celebration and its mission to build connection and understanding.
