Tropical Weather Forecast - Watching Erin in Atlantic
The first hurricane of the season is likely to form in the Atlantic Ocean this week. This system developed into Tropical Storm Erin today but remains very far from Texas in the eastern Atlantic. Through the week, the tropical storm will move westward, likely being upgraded to Hurricane Erin by Thursday. It is even forecast to become a major category 3 hurricane by this weekend just north of the Lesser Antilles. At this point, this does not look like a Gulf Coast threat, but it could come close to the East Coast of the US. Otherwise, we expect several tropical waves to move across the Atlantic over the next two weeks.
