Congress cannot rein in President Trump's tariffs. Lawmakers had been looking to block the president's ability to impose widespread high tariffs without congressional approval. Two senators skipped the vote, leaving Vice President JD Vance to cast the tie breaking vote to block that measure. Money for deportations is now moving forward in the U.S. House. Billions of dollars would go to deporting a million migrants a year, detaining 100,000 migrants, building a border wall and making legal immigration or asylum more expensive.
