Houston evening weather forecast, Jan. 10

The winter storm that has been impacting Texas has now moved out of the state. It brought several inches of snow to parts of North Texas and a few inches of rain for parts of Southeast Texas. There's a huge football playoff game tonight at AT&T stadium in Arlington, the Cotton Bowl with Texas and Ohio state. Temperatures will be near freezing, but the weather should be dry. However, drive with extreme caution as patches of ice will likely still be on many of the roads around Arlington. For the Houston area, expect cold and dry conditions tonight with a widespread freeze likely by Saturday morning. After starting off in the low 30s for Houston Saturday morning, temperatures should climb to the middle 50s by Saturday afternoon with plenty of sunshine. Weather will be cool but quiet for Texans tailgating for the big NFL wild card playoff game against the Chargers Saturday afternoon. Look for more clouds Sunday with isolated rain chances and slightly warmer temperatures near 60. We've had some crazy weather in recent weeks. But next week's weather looks fairly quiet with seasonal temperatures near 60 during the afternoon and near 40 overnight.
