FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast
Get ready for a major arctic blast still set to drop in Sunday evening and Monday! Before we get to that system though, we've got one coming in overnight that could bring a few strong storms. There's a low risk for a brief severe storm early Friday with a wind gust near 60 mph possible & hail near quarter size. But there will only be a small window for that to happen. The storm threat is mainly from 2-5 AM Friday and the highest threat is north of Houston. The wind picks up behind that front with gusts to 40 mph and a WIND ADVISORY is in effect 3 AM - 4 PM Friday. Saturday should be quiet for the Texans playoff game with highs near 60. But a major arctic front arrives Sunday afternoon and evening. Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday will be much colder with temperatures in the 30s much of the day. Light sleet, freezing drizzle, or snow flurries may mix with rain on Monday with little to no accumulation expected. Then a hard freeze is likely for Houston early Tuesday with temperatures near 20. Another freeze is likely early Wednesday before temperatures start to warm up Thursday.
