Houston weather: Excessive Heat Warning for Friday, Saturday

An Excessive Heat Warning now blankets most of our area through at least 8 p.m. Saturday, with a Heat Advisory in effect during the same timeframe along the immediate coastline. Feels like values could approach as high as 117 in some spots, with gusty south winds creating dangerous rip current concerns. Extreme caution will be needed for any outdoor activities through Father's Day and Juneteenth. Rain chances are pretty slim, but we can't rule out a stray shower or storm with a stalled out front just to the north of us.
