Cloudy, few showers Thursday evening in the 60s
Threat for flooding for Houston and surrounding areas will remain elevated through Friday night. Some parts of SE TX up around Brenham, Navasota & Huntsville have picked up around 3-7" of rain over the last 24 hours. Heaviest rain has been just NW of Houston so far. But with a front stalled over the Gulf and with another disturbance pushing in tonight, I expect more waves of heavy rain. Scattered rain will persist for the early evening with an even bigger wave of heavy rain expected to push in overnight. That means the Friday morning rush hour could be a mess with heavy downpours creating low visibility and ponding of water on roads. There could be some flooding issues as well so stay alert and make sure to grab the FOX 26 weather app. An additional 2-4" of rain is possible for Houston area through Friday night. There's also a low Cat. 1/5 threat for severe weather through tonight for SE TX with a few storms producing hail near 1" and possible a stronger wind gust over 50 mph. Cloudy & cooler weather hangs around tonight and Friday with overnight lows near 60 and afternoon high temperatures Friday only in the middle 60s. Pattern shifts for the holiday weekend with just a few showers sticking around early Saturday and a mild and mostly dry Easter Sunday expected. Warmer weather returns next week. Have a good evening and stay safe!
