Scam alert: Criminals putting bogus barcodes on gift cards
TikTok has exposed a new holiday gift card scam. Scammers print out their own barcode, place them over a real barcode on gift cards sold in stores, and when the card is activated, the money is added to the scammer's card. Adam Levin, cybersecurity expert and cohost of "What the Hack with Adam Levin", explains the scam and what shoppers need to know.
