Local students gifted with $500 Walmart shopping spree
The Cynthia A. Guillory Foundation is celebrating its 10th year of the ?Giving Tree? by taking 40 of Third Ward's Lockhart Elementary students on individual $500 shopping sprees. The field trip is in response to a request from 4th-grade teacher Ms. Charlenette Jones asking to provide students with new laptop computers. City Council member Dr. Carolyn Evans-Shabazz and historically Black Greek letter fraternities and sororities assisted in fundraising efforts to provide the laptops and shopping spree just in time for the HISD holiday break.
