HOUSTON - NBA sources confirm for FOX 26 Sports that the Houston Rockets reached a contract agreement on a one-year deal with free agent center Nene.
The contract is worth $2.9 million.
Nene Tweeted that he is "honored to become a part of the Houston Rockets family."
With Dwight Howard now in Atlanta, the Rockets needed to add a veteran center, and general manager Daryl Morey gets it done through free agency with minimal cost.
Nene,33, has averaged 12.2 points and 6.5 rebounds during his 14-year NBA career.
Nene played the first 10 years of his career with the Denver Nuggets.
He had been with the Washington Wizards since the 2011-12 season.
Nene is training with Brazil's national team in preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
