HOUSTON - Rockets guard Jason Terry confirmed in a text message to FOX 26 Sports that he interviewed with UAB as the school searches for a new head basketball coach.
Terry said the interview took place on Thursday in Houston, site of the 2016 Final Four at NRG Stadium.
However, Terry said in his text message that he has not made the decision to retire when the season is over.
"No, I'm focused on the playoffs, and there has been no offer made, but I have to keep all my options open when it comes to my post-playing career," Terry said.
The UAB job opened when Jerrod Haase was named the new head coach at Stanford.
The Blazers (26-7) won the Conference USA regular season title, before losing in the quartefinals of the CUSA postseason tournament.
UAB lost in the opening round of the NIT.
Terry, in his 17th NBA season with the Rockets, won an NBA championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.
Terry is third all-time in the NBA in shooting three pointers behind Ray Allen and Hall of Famer Reggie Miller.
WBRC-TV first reported Terry's involvement with UAB.
