Houston Texans sign five draft picks, reach agreements with 3 others

With rookie minicamp beginning on Friday for the Houston Texans, the team takes care of business by reaching agreements with or signing all eight NFL Draft picks.

The Texans signed third round pick tight end Jordan Akins from University of Central Florida and third round selection offensive tackle Martinas Rankin from Mississippi State University. The team agreed on a four-year, $4.063 million deal with third round pick Justin Reid.

 

Fourth round selection wide receiver Keke Coutee from Texas Tech signed a four-year contract with the Texans.

Sixth round pick linebacker Peter Kalambayi, drafted from Stanford University, signed to a four-year deal.

Tight end Jordan Thomas, who the Texans drafted in the sixth round from Mississippi State, agreed to four-year deal.

Duke Ejiofor, who played at Alief Taylor High School in Houston and was drafted in the sixth round out of Wake Forest University, signed a four-year deal with the Texans.

"It was awesome," said Ejiofor. "I'm ready to get to work."

"Just to be able to finally accomplish my goal of playing in the NFL," added Ejiofor.

The Texans agreed to a deal with seventh round pick cornerback Jermaine Kelly.
