HOUSTON - Center/forward Breaon Brady, 6-9, 250 pounds, from Saddleback College in California, commits to the University of Houston.
Brady told FOX 26 Sports he chose the Cougars over a number of schools including West Virginia, Arizona State and Washington State.
“Coach (Kelvin) Sampson is a great coach, Brady said. “I wouldn’t want to play for anybody else but him, because my options for my future are limitless if I buy into this program and I come here and I work for him.
“My goals are set very high for this program. I feel that I can come in and bring this team to the March Madness Tournament. With what I have to offer and what we already have, I know I can do it.”
Brady, who averaged 8.9 points and 5.6 rebounds his freshman year at Saddleback College, will be part of the Cougars 2017 recruiting class.
“I made my decision based upon the family environment that they have for me, because I’m a family man,” Brady said. “I come from a big family, and just being a part of a situation where I feel like I’m home, it’s a big deal to me.”
“I felt so comfortable on my visit. I wasn’t pressured to sign like all the other colleges I visited. They didn’t roll out the red carpet and put on a front for me and tell me all the stuff I want to hear. They actually told me and my family what was expected. There are no guarantees. He gave it to me all straight forward.
“There’s no, ‘this is what you’re going to get later when you come,’ none of that. That’s what I like.”
When Brady joins UH he’ll have two years of eligibility.
