A man driving a Mercedes SUV on McGowen ended up crashing into a parked car, which was pushed into another parked car, police say.

The SUV also struck a woman who was trying to walk around the parked cars to get on the sidewalk, and she ended up underneath another parked car, police say.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she died.

In an update, police shared that the 45-year-old SUV driver was not impaired. He was taken to a local hospital.

Once police finish the investigation, a Harris County Grand Jury will determine whether charges will be filed.

What they're saying:

FOX 26 spoke to witnesses who live nearby. They did not wish to be identified, but they shared first-hand accounts with us.

One witness told us that one of her vehicles was hit, and one belonging to someone in her home, was also hit. She said the impact of the hit was so hard that her vehicle was knocked forward and the second vehicle that was facing forward in her driveway, was knocked sideways.

"So then, when I came out there, the girl was out there hollering, so when I came back in to get me some shoes, she just stopped," said one witness," I don't know if the woman had kids or not, and it's close to the holidays."

A second witness said her vehicle was hit as well. The witness said that her vehicle suffered damage in the back and front after knocking into a trash can.

Both witnesses tell FOX 26 the driver of the Mercedes SUV did stay behind and try to render aid to the victim, but overall they are heartbroken to know someone died so close to home.

"She was just there. She couldn't get up. She tried to move, but she couldn't get up. The car was still running. One of the neighbors had to turn it off," said the second witness. "I just hope that the person who did this paid for what he has done."

What we don't know:

No one involved in the crash has been identified. Police are still investigating how the crash occurred and what factors may have contributed.
