HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Fans came from across the country to support the U.S. men's soccer team against Chile on Tuesday night.
Visitors from both coasts came to cheer on the USA, but Texas fans came in full force. Groups from San Antonio, Austin, and Corpus Christi all showed up to the game in their gear, ready to show their support.
"We've been to other cities, but it's nice to have the game in our backyard today," said one local fan.
Many Chilean-Americans came to show support for both teams, traveling from as far as New Jersey to share their heritage.
"I root for both sides, but today I'm Chilean!" another fan says with a wink.
Houston is hoping to host the 2026 World Cup, but every game matters, so loud crowds at each game are imperative for the bid.
