Suspect arrested after SWAT scene in Southeast Houston, police say

A suspect is in custody following a SWAT scene in Southeast Houston on New Year's Eve.

What we know:

The scene was at an apartment complex on Martin Luther King Boulevard near Fairgreen Lane.

Houston Police tell FOX 26 that officers initially responded to a crisis call at the scene just before 6 p.m. The suspect was allegedly arguing with a family member before firing a gunshot, causing the relative to leave the apartment.

Officers made a perimeter after hearing the gunfire. They were able to talk the suspect out of the apartment, and he was taken into custody.

Police say one bullet went into another apartment next door and missed someone. No injuries were reported.

The suspect reportedly faces charges of deadly conduct.

No one involved has been identified at this time.
