Theatre destroyed
What they're saying:
One of the board members for Cast Theatrical says the theatre is a total loss. He said even though the outside is brick, a lot of the inside is wood.
He said you could see flames shooting from the roof earlier.
He said the theatre has been here for more than three decades and is the longest-running community theater in Fort Bend County. Another board member says it's heartbreaking.
"I'm just devastated," said Alicia Meyer with Cast Theatrical. The non-profit theatre opened about 35 years ago, and it’s beloved in this community.
"I just fell in love with it. All the volunteers are so friendly. Our shows are so family-oriented and just some real wholesome entertainment."
Flower shop damaged
The owner of Flowers By Tiffany says the fire started shortly before she was supposed to open her store Monday. She said her nephew's restaurant was also damaged.
"My heart sank," said Anne Yao, the owner of Flowers by Tiffany. "I saw a lot of smoke in that corner and continued to grow, and the fire extended to this side. I think we have to be thankful that no lives were lost. I'm sure we can bounce back from this. I'm optimistic."
