LEGGETT, Texas - A shooting suspect is now in custody after an hours-long search near Leggett that prompted a shelter-in-place for nearby residents on Wednesday morning.

What we know:
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, deputies are investigating a shooting near Parrish Road and Willson Road, just north of FM 942 East.
The sheriff’s office identified the suspect as 39-year-old Lee David Strole. Around 2 p.m., authorities said Strole was taken into custody.

A Leggett man is in custody for allegedly shooting someone during a dispute over a horse. Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons provided information at the scene.
County Sheriff Byron Lyons tells FOX 26 that the sheriff's office was called about the shooting at about 9:15 a.m.
Deputies at the scene found a female with a gunshot wound. They provided her tourniquets and other life-saving measures until she was flown to a hospital.
According to Sheriff Lyons, the shooting stemmed from a dispute about the victim's horse on Strole's property. The two allegedly had an agreement on caring for the horse, but there was a disagreement about their deal.
Strole allegedly fled to a wooded area near his property before deputies arrived. Officials say he was found by a K-98 and surrendered to authorities.
What we don't know:
It is unclear if anyone was injured in the shooting, or what led to the shooting.
Leggett ISD schools
Leggett ISD says schools have been on lockdown since they were informed Wednesday morning, and all students and staff are safe.
According to Sheriff Lyones, schools are now back on normal schedule.
