A neighborhood lockdown has been lifted from earlier this afternoon after Harris County Sheriff’s deputies discover flammable material and explosives inside a home in northwest Harris County.

Around 3 p.m., Harris County deputies responded to the home on the 11000 block of Sentry Court. When they arrived, they were told the man inside the residence had flammable and explosive material inside the garage.

“They were concerned that he would begin to build things with them. The discussion was why was he doing that and then an argument ensued. So they left feeling unsafe with these material type things they left the home,” says Deputy Thomas Gilliland, PIO for Harris County Sheriff's Office.

As a precaution, a SWAT team and high risk operations unit set up a perimeter. A hostage negotiator was able to get the man out of the home peacefully. That’s when bomb squad officials made sure to remove all the material from inside the home.

Neighbors are happy with law enforcements response, especially since it seems this family has had domestic disputes in the past.

“Him and the wife do fight often. It’s nothing unusual that the cops are at at the house, but seeing this today is an usual,” said Brenda Sheffield.

Neighbor Raul Patino tells us, “on the street usually you get a lot of ambulances and cops and most of the time it’s one particular house they show up at, but what occurred today was kind of a big shock.“

The man was arrested on a deadly conduct charge. We will be sure to update you as we learn more information.
